U.S. Social security
You can choose the age at which to start the payments, which can be as early as 62 or as late as 70. Your full retirement age (FRA; from 66 to 67) depends on the year you were born, and is 67 if you were born in 1960 or later. We set the date of reaching FRA as the default date, but you can change it. Your benefits are reduced if you start earlier than your FRA and enhanced if started later.
Both spouses will have to enter their information as one could also receive a spousal or survivor's pension.
Other Canadian pensions could be applicable to the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) which could reduce U.S. Social Security for the pensioner.
Some US Government non-covered pensions could be applicable to the Government Pension Offset (GPO) provision and reduce spousal benefits.
We ask to select all incomes from ones previously entered in INCOMES that apply for WEP or GPO separately, and for each spouse.
