CCPC Investment Account
Use this form to edit the properties of an investment account owned by your Canadian-controlled private corporation (CCPC). To change its investments or balance, select Edit investments. The account balance is calculated as the sum of its investments.
Adding CCPC investment accountsCCPC investment accounts are available only if you indicated in your PROFILE that you or your spouse owns, or plans to own, a small business.
The MoneyReady App currently allows one CCPC per person or couple. That CCPC may have multiple investment accounts, and its investments may be held in different currencies.
Account Type and OwnerThe account type is fixed as CCPC and cannot be changed. The account owner is automatically set to the corporation and cannot be changed on this form.
Beneficiary information does not apply to a CCPC investment account and is therefore not shown.
Investments and account balanceA CCPC account is a container for its investments, just like the other accounts in the MoneyReady App. The account itself does not hold a separate balance. Its balance is calculated as the sum of its investments, converted to Canadian dollars when necessary.
Use Edit investments to add, remove or update the investments held in the account.
If you are representing the investments with a Portfolio investment instead of entering each holding separately, enter its asset allocation. The TIME MACHINE will use that allocation when rebalancing the portfolio.
CCPC taxation in the TIME MACHINEInvestment growth within a CCPC account is treated as passive investment income of the corporation. The TIME MACHINE applies the applicable corporate tax treatment and tracks refundable taxes when funds are distributed from the corporation.
The corporation’s tax calculations depend on several balances, including retained earnings, AAII, eRDTOH, nRDTOH, GRIP and CDA. These values are not entered on this account form. You will be asked to review them separately before running the TIME MACHINE, and you may need to obtain them from your accountant.
Corporate revenues are entered under REVENUES. Salaries and dividends paid by the corporation are entered under INCOMES.
The TIME MACHINE calculates the results from the information and transactions you enter, but it does not determine whether a proposed corporate transaction is legally or tax-planning appropriate. Professional accounting and legal advice may be required.
Growth of the Cash investmentIf the growth rate of the Cash investment has not yet been entered, the field Growth per year (%) of Cash investment may be shown. Once the rate has been saved, you can change it by editing the Cash investment.
Minimum balanceA minimum positive balance can be set for the account, and it will be honoured by the TIME MACHINE.
