Cash Investment

The Cash investment is a place in which to store currency.

If you have a brokerage account, you will be familiar with the concept of a separate cash account; money is placed there when you sell investments and withdrawn from there when you buy investments.

If you hold investments with an advisor, a mutual fund company, or an insurance company, you may not see a cash account on any statements, as any cash is immediately invested or withdrawn. Still, think of the cash account as the cash register in which your money is recorded.

If the account consists of a simple checking or savings account, which holds nothing but currency, you can leave the account with this one investment called 'Cash'. You will be able to edit that investment, change its value, and change its interest rate and any fees.

If there are maintenance fees for an account holding investments, enter them as fees in the cash account.
You cannot delete the the 'Cash' investment, as it is required for all accounts in this program. For example, the fees for an advisor or robo-advisor account that charges a percent of your total holdings would be a % maintenance fee you would enter here. Transaction fees for buying/selling particular investments, and fees charged by mutual funds or ETFs will be captured where you enter the specific investments.
