List Accounts
This page provides an overview of all your accounts. It shows each account’s balance in Canadian dollars and its estimated return and risk, based on the investments it contains.
If newly imported Wealthica accounts still require information, you will first be directed to Review and edit accounts. You must review those accounts before returning to this list.
Working with an account- Edit Account Properties lets you edit the account’s name, type, owner, beneficiary, minimum balance and any properties specific to that account type.
- Edit Cash or Edit Investments opens the investments held in the account. A banking account may contain only its Cash investment.
- Edit Target Asset Allocation lets you set allocation targets and use the rebalancing tools.
The relevant fields are shown when you edit the account. If you are allowed to change its type, the fields will change to those required for the selected type. RESPs and RDSPs retain detailed editors because their beneficiaries and contribution histories require additional information.
Edit All AccountsSelect Edit All Accounts from the bottom navigation bar to review and update several accounts on one page. You can filter that page to show:
- all accounts;
- newly imported Wealthica accounts that require review; or
- accounts requiring yearly review.
Each account is validated and saved independently. The Bulk actions menu also provides a Save All option. Save All applies only to accounts visible under the selected filter, and you will be asked to confirm the operation.
Account balances and investmentsAn account does not hold a balance separately from its investments. Its balance is always calculated as the sum of the Cash, Portfolio and other investments it contains. To change an account’s current balance, update its investments.
Every account has a Cash investment. When you add an account, its initial balance is placed in Cash unless you enter an asset allocation that creates a Portfolio investment.
If an investments link is shown in red, one or more investments have not been revalued recently and should be reviewed. Investments tracked with Fundata or Wealthica are updated automatically when data is available, but you should still review purchases, sales, deposits, withdrawals and the number of units you own.
Select All Investments to update investment values, valuation dates and book values for investments from several accounts on one page.
Comparing portfolios and MOCK accountsAccounts containing investments with ticker symbols can be selected for a historical portfolio comparison. The resulting graph estimates how the current portfolio might have performed historically. It does not represent your actual investment performance.
MOCK accounts can be used as investment watchlists or to compare possible portfolios. They are ignored by the TIME MACHINE and excluded from your overall asset allocation.
Target asset allocationsOnce investments have been added to an account, you can set a target asset allocation. The allocation link may be shown in red until targets have been set, or in orange when the current allocation has moved substantially away from its targets.
Adding an accountSelect Add Account below the accounts table. A Cash investment will be created automatically. Depending on the account type, you may be asked for additional information before reaching the account’s investments.
Deleting an accountAn account can be deleted only when it is not linked to another entry, such as an AUTOMATIC SAVINGS/WITHDRAWALS entry, a LOAN or a Home Buyer’s Plan. When deletion is unavailable, the associated entry is shown so that you can review and remove the link first.
Deleting an account also deletes its investments and cannot be undone. If the account was imported from Wealthica, it will also be recorded so that it is not imported again automatically.
