MOCK Account

A MOCK account is a test account used to compare investments and portfolios that you are considering. It is similar to a watchlist.

You can add and edit investments, review their historical returns and graphs, set an asset-allocation target, and obtain rebalancing recommendations without affecting your financial plan.

Treatment in the TIME MACHINE

MOCK accounts and their investments are ignored by the TIME MACHINE. They are also excluded from your overall asset allocation.

The owner, beneficiary and minimum balance of a MOCK account therefore have no effect on the TIME MACHINE while the account remains a MOCK account. This information may become relevant if you later change its account type.

Changing the Account Type

A MOCK account can be changed to one of the other account types offered in the Account Type menu. Once changed, the account and its investments will be included in the TIME MACHINE and in your overall asset allocation.

If you select an account type requiring additional information, you will be directed to the appropriate form after saving the account. Complete the required information before continuing.

Changing a MOCK account to a registered account cannot be undone. You will be asked to confirm the conversion.

Investments and account balance

The account balance is calculated as the sum of its investments. To change the balance, holdings or investment assumptions, select Edit investments.

You can add investments manually or use the MoneyReady App’s investment-tracking features where available.

Copying MOCK accounts to clients

Advisors can create MOCK accounts in their own MoneyReady App account and copy them to selected clients. This can be useful for sharing a proposed portfolio or investment model.

The copied account remains a MOCK account for the client until its account type is changed.

Copying and merging existing accounts

The Copy and Merge Accounts feature creates a new MOCK account containing copies of the investments from the accounts you select. The original accounts and investments are not changed.

This makes it possible to examine several existing accounts as one combined portfolio.

Rebalancing a MOCK account

After setting an asset-allocation target for the MOCK account, you can use the rebalancing tool to obtain recommendations for the combined portfolio.

The recommendations show possible purchases and sales, but the MOCK account remains separate from your actual accounts and does not affect the TIME MACHINE.

Growth of the Cash investment

If the growth rate of the Cash investment has not yet been entered, the field Growth per year (%) of Cash investment may be shown. Once the rate has been saved, you can change it by editing the Cash investment.
