The MoneyReady App was launched in the summer of 2019. Almost 4 years later, after answering many questions, getting great feedback, and having many discussions with users by email, I decided to start this community forum in March 2023 so that everyone can benefit from these discussions.

Because nobody likes an empty forum, meet user anonymous:
This is a fake user created to populate the forum with real questions that were sent by email to the MoneyReady App. Those emails and our responses have been curated to select the most common, interesting, and still relevant today. They have been edited for clarity and to remove any identifying information for privacy and security. Typos are all mine. You can find these posts in the Q/A forum.

I've also pre-populated the Announcements forum with the email announcements I sent to all users in these years.

The MoneyReady App FAQs page was also turned into forums. There's a public FAQ for general questions, and one only available to registered users for more specific common questions. I may add a MoneyReady Forum FAQ if it becomes necessary.

The MoneyReady App Votingbooth has been turned into the Feature requests forum.

These rules are disclosed to clarify the various responsibilities of all community members. They shall be adhered to by everyone to ensure that the MoneyReady Forum provides a safe, educational, productive and fun experience for all of our visitors. We reserve the right to change the rules at any time without notification.

• Forums

  • The Announcements forum is where you'll find announcements on new features and updates of the MoneyReady App. To keep it clean, this forum is locked. Also locked are the FAQ forums. If you have questions or comments about the announcements or the FAQs, you can post them in the Q/A.
  • The Q/A forum is where all of your questions about the MoneyReady App go. You are also very welcome to provide answers yourself and provide clarifications or futher questions, comments or feature requests.
  • The General forum is for providing useful resources, discussions and more general questions on personal finance that you think would be useful or interesting to MoneyReady App users. Before posting there I strongly urge you to consider posting to the Financial Wisdom Forum. I only have this forum in case there are things that are of particular interest to MoneyReady App users.
  • The Feature requests forum is where you can add your feature requests for the MoneyReady App and Forum, and see features we are working on or thinking of working on. Please vote by replying to the topic for any feature that is important to you. We do not promise that any on the list will be implemented, and we may add features that are not on the list.

• Posting policy

  • You agree not to post or link to abusive, slanderous, hateful, or otherwise threatening or discriminatory material on sex, gender, race, religion, language or any other material that may violate any applicable laws or that go against common courtesy. Ask yourself whether you would want your friends and loved ones to see what you wrote.
  • Personal attacks on forum users, forum owners, forum moderators or anyone (including politicians, government officials, journalists, bloggers, advisors, celebrities etc.), are not tolerated. Argue by addressing the ideas or actions of the person, not by attacking the person.
    The MoneyReady App is my baby and is thus considered a person.
  • Before starting a new topic, please use the Search box to see if there might be an existing topic covering the same subject. If so, post there rather than create a new topic on the same subject, which would be most helpful to everybody.
  • Although previously reading the MoneyReady App eBook or searching it for answers before you post a question (or answer) here is not required, it is highly recommended.
  • If logged in you can select to search all the MoneyReady documentation using OpenAI. This search covers this book, all help pages, all forum posts, all blog posts, the homepage, and our various other pages. Type your question in the box, and a response will be generated with an OpenAI large language model given all these documents. It is instructed to answer only based on those documents. The answer given will probably be incomplete at best, and possibly entirely wrong. We attempt to provide the references to the top documents it used to form its answer, but that may not be accurate either. If the AI answer is not useful, please don't hesitate to contact us with your question. You'll get a real human to respond.
  • Don't violate copyright laws by cutting and pasting substantial parts of any article into a post. Instead, post a link to the article and quote a short summary of the author's main point.
  • Forum posts are readable to anyone on the internet, including spam bots and scammers. Be wary of your personal privacy and security. Do not reveal your real identity, your email address or other identifying information.
  • You agree not to solicit business, although a link to your website in your profile is allowed. Soliciting includes posting stock tips, buy/sell signals, etc., or attempting to attract business, clients, or website traffic. We reserve the right to determine what is solicitation. Violations may lead to you be banned from all future posting.
  • If you see a post you believe violates applicable laws or one of these board rules, you can inform the moderators and management by using the (Report a Post) button at the bottom of the objectionable post. Please provide a reason to the moderators/management for reporting the post.
  • If your question requires identifiable details of your financial scenario, is a bug report, or if you have any doubt whether your post is appropriate for the forum, don't post it there. Send us your question/comment through our Contact Us page instead. When appropriate, your communications with us can always be added to the forum later with attribution to "anonymous" or to your forum username, as you would prefer.

• Moderation policy

  • The MoneyReady Forum is actively moderated to maintain a safe, civil and welcoming environment.
  • Moderators will intervene to prevent conversations from turning hostile, and to eliminate trolling.
  • Moderators may hide posts and topics, may edit topic titles and edit (or delete) posts therein to remove any material that does not adhere to our posting policy, with or without notification by email.
  • Moderators may ban a user from posting, without notification. Banned forum users can still use the MoneyReady App.
  • Moderation policy is established by the Forum's owners. Moderator decisions are final.

• Terms of service

  • The MoneyReady Forum is free but read-only unless you are registered and logged-in to the MoneyReady App (and not banned from posting on the Forum).
  • You can register for the free trial of the MoneyReady App. A username, different from the app's username, will automatically be created for you for the Forum. You can change the Forum's username on your Forum profile page to one you prefer. The username must be inoffensive, in accordance with all other forum policies, and not misleading. Examples of usernames that do not meet these requirements would be any that include profanities, rude/sexist/racist comments, the surnames of real people (including yours for your security), political or religious expressions, and recognizable trademarked names.
  • Posting is free, however all topics and posts from users without an active paid subscription to the MoneyReady App will be hidden from view until they are approved by a moderator. We aim to take less than 24 hours to approve posts. You will be notified by email once your post is approved.
  • You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this Forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic or post at any time should they see fit. As a user you grant a perpetual non-exclusive licence to the owners of this Forum to store, reproduce, and publish (or republish as the case may be) your posts. Private information you give us when you become a member, e.g., a valid email address, will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, except where directed by court order. You agree that the owners, webmasters, administrators and moderators are not responsible for any harm or damages resulting from successful hacking attempts.
  • This forum software uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies are used to maintain your logged-in status and proper functioning of the site.
